An unidentified gang opened fire at Lalu Khan, a cadre of CPN (Maoist Centre), at Malhaniya, Mirchaiya-3 in Siraha district on Sunday.

Khan, 30, a resident of Arang, Majhauliya-4 in the district, has been injured after bullets hit his armpit and neck. Police also found marks of rod attack on his head.

Khan sustained two bullets while he was heading to Mirchaiya Bazaar on his motorcycle. A gang of four goons, who arrived in two motorcycles—one untested number plate and another an Indian number plate—had fired four bullets at Khan.

Khan was ferried to BP Koirala Hospital in Dharan for treatment. Siraha District Police Office Chief SP Sekhar Koirala said an intensive investigation will be conducted into the matter. He said police are looking for the culprits.
