Speaking at a programme organised by the Election Commission on the use of electronic voting machine, the PM on Tuesday said the local elections were high on the agenda.
“Acts related to the elections have been passed. The government has been preparing for the polls,” said Dahal, asking the people not to doubt the government’s intentions about the polls.
On the feasibility of electronic voting, the PM said people had been using new technologies lately. Asking election officials to make voter education effective, Dahal said people who use smart phones would easily be able to use electronic voting.
Chief Election Commissioner Ayodhee Prasad Yadav said electronic voting machines would make elections fair, transparent, speedy and cost-effective.
Representatives of political parties were briefed on the use of electronic voting machines on the occasion.
