A wild elephant charged at pilgrims who were on their way to Dudheshwor Mahadev Temple in Parsa on Monday evening, killing 60-year-old Thag Prasad Yadav of Nichuta VDC, police said on Tuesday.
The pilgrims had hired four tractors to get to the temple located inside the Parsa Wildlife Reserve (PWR).
They were confronted by the elephant at Sonbarsha VDC. A joint team from the Nepal Army, the Nepal Police and the PWR had reached the incident site to rescue the other pilgrims.
