Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Thursday inducted two more ministers to his Cabinet from fringe parties.
President Bidya Devi Bhandari administered the oath of office to Prem Bahadur Singh as minister for drinking water and sanitation and Kumar Khadka as minister for women children and social welfare at Sheetal Niwas.
Singh, whose party Samajbadi Janata Dal, was quashed by the Election Commission in March last year for failing to furnish the details of income and expenditures for three years, has moved the Supreme Court. His case is yet to be decided.
On the other hand, Minister Khadka represents the Akhanda Nepal Party, whose stated policy is anti-federalism. Both Singh and Khadka, according to sources, had warned the PM of joining the opposition front led by the CPN-UML if they were not appointed ministers.
With 43 ministers, Dahal’s Cabinet has become bigger than one formed by his predecessor KP Sharma Oli.
