The meeting also decided to hold the biennial FSU election on February 25 this year. The student elections have not taken place since 2009 due to differences among student organisations over various issues. This has end the row over age limit and cloud over taking elections on time.
Student leaders have welcomed the decisions, expressing a hope for smooth FSU elections. The university had formed a committee under Sudha Tripathi to suggest age limit and other procedures of the elections. The meeting also decided to adopt a mixed electoral system during the FSU elections. Accordingly, 50 percent of members, including chair, secretary and treasurer, will be elected directly, while the rest will be chosen through the proportional representation system.
