Nepal Police on Friday recommended promotion of three Senior Superintendents of Police to Deputy Inspector Generals and 14 Deputy Superintendents of Police to SPs.
Nepal Police on Friday recommended promotion of three Senior Superintendents of Police to Deputy Inspector Generals and 14 Deputy Superintendents of Police to SPs.
A meeting of the promotion board headed by Home Secretary Lokdarshan Regmi took a decision to this effect. According to the Nepal Police, SSPs Ganesh KC, Kedarman Singh Bhandari and Ramesh Bhattarai have been recommended for promotion to DIG. One DIG position is vacant while two DIGs are retiring this week.
SSP Lava Bista was left out of the promotion process, said Home Ministry sources, claiming that such decisions would not only hurt the sentiments of aspiring officials but set a wrong precedent.
Many police officers and even senior ministry officials are upset with the decision due to the perception that only those who get close to party leaders would be promoted while others staying neutral had to retire.
Those recommended for promotion to SPs are Rajendra Kumar Thapa, Ram Kumar Thapa, Raj Kumar Lamsal, Anurag Kumar Dwivedi, Chandra Kuber Khapung, Bidhya Nanda Majhi, Sanukaji Lamichhane, Bipin Kumar Karmacharya, Madhusudan Luitel, Dilli Raj Pantha, Dhurba Raj Raut, Mohan Prasad Pokhrel, Rajendra Singh Khadka,
Tika Bahadur KC and Yog Bahadur Pal.
