Indian security personnel have tightened security checks at the border transit points and increased surveillance in border areas suspecting infiltration of criminal groups into India from Nepal, taking advantage of the open border.
Tensions have escalated between Pakistan and India, two nuclear armed countries, after a militant strike on an Indian army base in the restive region of Kashmir.
Security has been beefed up at the border transit points on the Indian side particularly at Aadapur, Ghodadana and Ghodasahaya along the international border across Bara district. Similarly, the movement of four-wheel vehicles through these transit points has been banned. The Indian security personnel have also tightened security checks on persons crossing the border.
All the vehicles except ambulances and those carrying wedding parties have been banned from plying via the border check points and other crossings along the no-man’s land.
Indian authorities have beefed up security at Raxaul-Vishwa, Parsauni-Bhelai, Sirsiya-Raxaul, Janakitol-Inarwa, Thori and Bhiswa-Thori transit points across border with Parsa district.
