Submitting a memorandum to Home Minister Bimalendra Nidhi on Sunday, the party demanded the mechanism to work on implementation of the new constitution and for holding the local, provincial and general elections.
Bhattarai and other political leaders have been raising doubts over the Maoist-Congress government’s commitment to holding the elections citing the sluggish preparations and a lack of progress in negotiation with the agitating parties.
During the meeting with Nidhi, Naya Shakti leaders said that a mechanism incorporating all the political forces was necessary to resolve the issue. The memorandum asks the government to take a lead in addressing the grievances of the Madhes-based parties without delay.
The party also submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal through the District Administration Offices.
