A court in Bahrain has convicted a Nepali migrant worker of murder and sentenced him to life in prison.
According to the Embassy of Nepal in Bahrain, Til Bahadur Garbuja, of Pokhara, was sent to life in prison by the court for murdering his friend on May 17 last year. He was arrested the same day.
The court said Garbuja was found guilty of killing his compatriot Dipendra Bahadur Basnet of Morang by slitting his throat while he was sleeping in an accommodation provided by the company they used to work for.
Both Nepalis were working as security guards in Securicor Company.
It is learnt that the duo had altercations the earlier day.
According to a statement given by Basnet’s friend in a local newspaper, Basnet was sleeping in his room as he had a day off.
“When I entered the room, Garbuja was exiting. He did not speak to me. When I called Dipendra, he did not respond. When so I lifted the blanket, I found him dead with his throat slit. The entire bed was drenched with blood,” Dipendra’s friend had said in his statement.
Police had reached the incident site immediately after the incident.
Garbuja had posted a video of the murder on social media sites.
