Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Krishna Bahadur Mahara has left for China on Monday.

Mahara's two-day China visit was as part of the government's earlier decision to send him to China as special envoy of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal to inform the Chinese government of the formation of the new government and the latest political development in the country.

Talking to media persons at Tribhuvan International Airport before boarding a flight to China, Minister Mahara said his visit was aimed at further developing and expanding relations between Nepal and China.

"I am leaving for China to strengthen relations with China in the changed political context following the formation of the new government. We expect China's support to build good ties between Nepal and China and Chinese political leaders to visit Nepal."

He also pledged to carry on and implement the agreements struck between Chinese government and former KP Sharma Oli-led government.

During his visit, the DPM, who is accompanied by Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Jhabindra Prasad Aryal, is scheduled to meet with Chinese high level officials and important personalities. RSS
