A team of government officials is leaving for Afghanistan on Friday to make an assessment of the potential security risk facing Nepali migrants in the war-torn country.

The government team will also investigate into the suicide attack in Kabul that claimed the lives of 13 Nepali security guards on June 20.

The Ministry of Labour and Employment said that the five-member team led by Tritha Raj Aryal, Nepal’s acting ambassador to Pakistan, is scheduled to hold meetings with Nepali migrants and Afghan authorities to take stock of the security situation in Afghanistan. The team will also make diplomatic efforts to bring Nepali migrants working without legal documents in Afghanistan.

 More than 60 Nepali migrant workers have returned home—either on their own or with the support of government agencies— from Afghanistan following the terrorist attack last month.
