The Kantipur chapter of Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) has condemned the threat against journalist Ashwini Koirala by one Anoj Shakya.
Journalist Koirala had published a news report on Saptahik—a weekly paper published by the Kantipur Publications—about alleged sexual harassment of Nepali actress Gauri Malla in Japan by Shakya.
Koirala had written the news report based on a telephone and online conversations with Shakya. Koirala said now Shakya is threatening to send hired thugs after him over the news.
Noting that issuing threats to journalist is unacceptable, the FNJ, Kantipur chapter, has asked Shakya to file a complaint at the office of Nepal Press Council if he thinks he has been wronged by the news article.
