US-based organisations help quake victims
A five-member medical team arrived in Nepal on May 8 from the United States to provide medical support to earthquake victims,.
The team, comprising four personnel from the Community and Disaster Response Team of Sebastopol, California, have set up camp at Batali village, in constituency no 1 of Sindhupalchok district. Along with addressing the medical needs of more than 540 people, the team has also distributed relief packages, consisting blankets, sleeping bags and tents to 80 people.
Chairman of San Francisco Bay Area-based organisation Motherland Nepal Anil Pandey, who is also an honorary public relations representative of the Nepal Tourism Board for San Francisco, is coordinating the relief work.
“I have come here to help my country in the time of disaster,” Pandey said. He also confirmed that the organisation had invited medics from Japan to help disaster
-affected people.
Other San Francisco-based organisations like Life Zone, Creative Nepal and Sangai Sagarmatha, and Los Angeles-based Pashupati Foundation have also been providing relief supplies to earthquake victims in Nepal.
