710 houses ravaged in Udaypur by Gorkha earthquake
As many as 710 private and government buildings have been damaged in the distric by the Great Quake on Saturday and the big aftershock on Sunday.The houses cracked by two major shocks collapsed due to the frequent aftershocks since then.
Of the total 710 houses ruined by the earthquake, 621 are private buildings while 89 others are government offices, schools, hospitals, health posts, police offices and district jail, among others, said Chief District Officer Krishna Chandra Ghimire.
Tek Bahadur Gurung, Chief of the police at the District Police Office, Udayapur, said 95 per cent of the buildings are completely destroyed while others were partly damaged.
The local administration has collected the record of the damaged houses and government offices. The local administration in coordination with the concerned bodies has been collecting the details of the loss of life and property in the district and the number of collapsed buildings could even increase. The administration would distribute the relief aid to the earthquake victims, visiting the affected areas. RSS
