NC candidate elected from Baglung-1
Champa Khadka, the widow of Nepali Congress lawmaker Hari Bahadur Khadka, has been elected from her husband’s constituency in Baglung district in Saturday’s Constituent Assembly by-election.bookmarkChampa Khadka, the widow of Nepali Congress (NC) lawmaker Hari Bahadur Khadka, has been elected from her husband’s constituency in Baglung district in Saturday’s Constituent Assembly by-election. Khadka received 17,154 votes to secure victory from Baglung-1. Her closest rival, Man Kumari KC of CPN-UML, garnered 15,068 votes.

The Election Commission had conducted the by-election in the contituency after NC lawmaker Hari Bahadur from the constituency died in an auto crash in December 2014.
UCPN (Maoist) candidate Krishna KC, who received 2,505 votes, had to forfeit his election bail after failing to receive less than 10 percent of the total votes cast.
The number of votes received by NC and UML candidates increased by 4,000 and 3,000 compared to the outcome of the CA election held in 2013.
The number of support to the Maoist candidate declined by nearly 3,500 votes. A total of 13 candidates were in the fray.
