UCPN (M) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and CPN-Maoist General Secretary Ram Bahadur Thapa are leading the rally. The rally that kicked off from Babarmahal ended at Santi Batika in Ratnapark.
The Maoist parties have been objecting to the recent decision of the Supreme Court to strike down a clause giving the Commission on Truth and Reconciliation ( TRC ) and the Commission on Investigation of Enforced Disappearance (CED) the power to recommend amnesty for serious human rights violations committed during the decade-long conflict (1996-2006).
The six Maoist parties had submitted a joint memorandum to Prime Minister Sushil Koirala about a week ago in this regard. They [Maoists] claim that the SC decision is against the spirit of Comprehensive Peace Accord reached among the political parties in the past.
