UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal's eldest daughter Gyanu KC passed away on Thursday. She was 40.

KC, a long time patient of cancer, had been admitted to Om Hospital in the Capital. Earlier, she was taken to Fortis Hospital in Noida, India, but to no avail. KC was suffering from breast cancer for the last eight years.

Following the news, Dahal has reached the hospital this afternoon.

Her funeral rites will be performed at Pashupati Aryaghat later today.
