One person died and two others from a family are missing after being swept away while swimming in Thuli Bheri River on Friday.

Locals from ward 9 of Aathbiskot Municipality spotted someone being swept away and managed to rescue one person. However, the rescued girl later died during treatment, according to the police.

The deceased has been identified as 16-year-old Bhagwati, daughter of Tek Bahadur Nepali from ward 8 of Nalgad Municipality in Jajarkot. Locals took her to the Aathbiskot Municipality Hospital, where she died during treatment, Police Inspector Hari Pun from the District Police Office said.

“The missing are 12-year-old Asha and 10-year-old Mahesh, daughter and son of Surendra Kusari, who live in the same area,” Inspector Pun said. The search for the missing children is ongoing.
