The 157-metre-long suspension bridge at Bangme in ward 2 of Bangad Kupinde Municipality, has been left unrepaired for 15 months after it was damaged by a landslide.
According to Man Bahadur Khatri, the chair of the ward, the bridge over the Bheri River connects four villages of the ward and was damaged in October 2022. The residents of Ward 2 have no option but to wade through the river to reach the other wards.
“Previously, a budget was allocated for repairing the bridge, but the work could not start due to some paperwork issues. We are working towards starting the repair work as soon as possible,” said Khatri.
