Sharada Municipality on Monday issued a 35-days notice to remove all illegal structures from in-and-around the Shreenagar-based temporary buspark.
The move has been initiated to bring the municipality’s plan of constructing a modern buspark to life.
Around 75 families have been living and operating businesses in the unused government land for more than three-decades.
Mayor Prakash Bhandari said that the notice has been issued after the settlement posed a problem to continue the construction of the buspark as per the Detailed Project Report.
“All arrangements for the construction have been made. Everybody is requested to support the project and not cause disruptions,” said Bhandari.
“Shreenagar is the major business hub of the entire district. It is our collective responsibility to make the modern buspark and the marketplace prosperous. For that, everyone’s support is required.”
While Bhandari admitted that no plans for the management and relocation of the displaced population have been made, he said that the municipality will take action if the illegal settlements are not removed within the time frame.
The Urban Development Ministry has allotted Rs 59 million under the Matching Fund Program for the construction of the modern buspark in 2076 BS. The preparations have been made accordingly, said Liladhar Babaal, the acting Chief Executive Officer of Sharada Municipality.
Previously, former mayor Suresh Adhikari had also issued a 15-days notice in 2018 to remove the illegal structure. The construction work could not proceed due to protests from the locals.
