Nepal reports 569 new Covid-19 cases, 11 deaths

Nepal on Tuesday reported 569 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours taking the nationwide infection tally to 810,298.

Similarly, 97 people tested positive in a total of 2,249 antigen tests, according to the Health Ministry.

As of Tuesday, 4,386,567 PCR and 648,921 antigen tests have been carried out across the country.

A total of 9,771 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry.

In its regular situation report, the ministry did not mention the death toll over the past 24 hours. It, however, reported 11 Covid-19-related fatalities, which included the number of deaths managed by Nepal Army on different dates.

The countrywide death toll has now reached 11,372. The number of active cases stands at 10,296.

According to the ministry, 788,630 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; 622 of them in the last 24 hours.

Kathmandu Valley recorded 235 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of these, 177 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 33 in Lalitpur and 25 in Bhaktapur.

In the past 24 hours, 43 new infections were recorded in Province 1, 21 in Province 2, 313 in Bagmati, 73 in Gandaki, 104 in Lumbini, five in Karnali and 10 in Sudurpaschim.

According to the data released by the ministry, four districts are home to more than 500 active cases each; 10 other districts host more than 200 active cases each and one district—Mugu—has active zero cases.

On Tuesday, 252 individuals infected with the virus were being treated in intensive care units across the country. Another 80-22 in Province 1, 47 in Bagmati, two in Gandaki, six in Lumbini and one in Karnali and two in Sudurpaschim—were on ventilator support.

Nepal on Monday reported 673 new coronavirus cases and 13 deaths. Similarly, 522 new coronavirus cases and three deaths were reported on Sunday and 438 new coronavirus cases and eight deaths were recorded on Saturday.
