With 5,825 new cases, Nepal's Covid-19 tally reaches 576,936
The Health Ministry reports 75 new deaths including figures from the past few days based on statistics from the Nepal Army.Post Report
Nepal on Thursday reported 5,825 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours taking the nationwide infection tally to 576,936.
Similarly, 1,000 people tested positive in a total of 3,211 antigen tests, according to the Health Ministry.
As of Thursday, 3,106,938 PCR tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 18,562 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry.
In its regular situation report, the ministry did not mention the death toll over the past 24 hours. It, however, reported 75 Covid-19-related fatalities, which included the number of deaths managed by Nepal Army on different dates.
The countrywide death toll has now reached 7,630. The number of active cases stands at 101,839.
According to the ministry, 467,467 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; 5,904 of them in the last 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 2,057 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of these, 1,630 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 298 in Lalitpur and 129 in Bhaktapur.
In the past 24 hours, 559 new infections were recorded in Province 1, 349 in Province 2, 2,886 in Bagmati, 1,356 in Gandaki, 357 in Lumbini, 149 in Karnali and 169 in Sudurpaschim.
According to the data released by the ministry, 47 districts are home to more than 500 active cases each and other 13 districts host more than 200 active cases each.
On Thursday, 1,444 individuals infected with the virus were being treated in intensive care units across the country. Another 398—57 in Province 1, 22 in Province 2, 256in Bagmati, 23 in Gandaki, 25 in Lumbini, five in Karnali and 10 in Sudurpaschim—were on ventilator support.
Nepal on Wednesday reported 7,555 new cases and 101 Covid-19 related deaths. Similarly, 5,285 new cases and 68 Covid-19 related deaths were recorded on Tuesday and 4,178 new cases and 114 Covid-19 related fatalities were reported on Monday.
