With 4,311 new cases, Nepal's Covid-19 tally reaches 553,422

Nepal on Saturday reported 4,311 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours taking the nationwide infection tally to 553,422.
Similarly, 176 people tested positive in a total of 746 antigen tests, according to the Health Ministry.
As of Saturday, 3,031,383 PCR tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 14,006 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry.
In its regular situation report, the ministry did not mention the death toll over the past 24 hours. It, however, reported 116 Covid-19-related fatalities, which included the number of deaths managed by Nepal Army on different dates.
The countrywide death toll has now reached 7,163. The number of active cases stands at 111,509.
According to the ministry, 434,750 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; 6,080 of them in the last 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 1,171 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of these, 867 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 199 in Lalitpur and 105 in Bhaktapur.
In the past 24 hours, 724 new infections were recorded in Province 1, 316 in Province 2, 1,912 in Bagmati, 509 in Gandaki, 494 in Lumbini, 105 in Karnali and 251 in Sudurpaschim.
According to the data released by the ministry, 51 districts are home to more than 500 active cases each and other 11 districts host more than 200 active cases each.
On Saturday, 1,614 individuals infected with the virus were being treated in intensive care units across the country. Another 457—58 in Province 1, 40 in Province 2, 293 in Bagmati, 36 in Gandaki, 19 in Lumbini, two in Karnali and nine in Sudurpaschim—were on ventilator support.
Nepal on Friday reported 6,855 new cases and 96 Covid-19 related fatalities. Similarly, 6,731 new cases and 106 Covid-19 related fatalities were recorded on Thursday and 6,677 new cases and 145 Covid-19 related fatalities were recorded on Wednesday.
