With 6,855 new cases, Nepal's Covid-19 tally reaches 549,111
The Health Ministry reports 96 new deaths including figures from the past few days based on statistics from the Nepal Army.Post Report
Nepal on Friday reported 6,855 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours taking the nationwide infection tally to 549,111.
Similarly, 96 people tested positive in a total of 797 antigen tests, according to the Health Ministry.
As of Friday, 3,017,377 PCR tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 19,313 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry.
In its regular situation report, the ministry did not mention the death toll over the past 24 hours. It, however, reported 96 Covid-19-related fatalities, which included the number of deaths managed by Nepal Army on different dates.
The countrywide death toll has now reached 7,047. The number of active cases stands at 113,394.
According to the ministry, 428,670 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; 9,841 of them in the last 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 2,324 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of these, 1,796 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 315 in Lalitpur and 213 in Bhaktapur.
In the past 24 hours, 872 new infections were recorded in Province 1, 460 in Province 2, 3,630 in Bagmati, 535 in Gandaki, 890 in Lumbini, 101 in Karnali and 367 in Sudurpaschim.
According to the data released by the ministry, 50 districts are home to more than 500 active cases each and other 11 districts host more than 200 active cases each.
On Friday, 1,627 individuals infected with the virus were being treated in intensive care units across the country. Another 450—53 in Province 1, 36 in Province 2, 289 in Bagmati, 36 in Gandaki, 19 in Lumbini, five in Karnali and 12 in Sudurpaschim—were on ventilator support.
Nepal on Thursday reported 6,731 new cases and 106 Covid-19 related fatalities. Similarly, 6,677 new cases and 145 Covid-19 related fatalities were recorded on Wednesday and 8,387 new cases and 169 Covid-19 related fatalities were reported on Tuesday.
