With 6,731 new cases, Nepal's Covid-19 tally reaches 542,256

Nepal on Thursday reported 6,731 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours taking the nationwide infection tally to 542,256.
Similarly, 208 people tested positive in a total of 578 antigen tests, according to the Health Ministry.
As of Thursday, 2,998,064 PCR tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 20,414 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry.
In its regular situation report, the ministry did not mention the death toll over the past 24 hours. It, however, reported 106 Covid-19-related fatalities, which included the number of deaths managed by Nepal Army on different dates.
The countrywide death toll has now reached 6,951. The number of active cases stands at 116,476.
According to the ministry, 418,829 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; 7,226 of them in the last 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 2,367 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of these, 1,738 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 264 in Lalitpur and 265 in Bhaktapur.
In the past 24 hours, 877 new infections were recorded in Province 1, 513 in Province 2, 3,579 in Bagmati, 653 in Gandaki, 586 in Lumbini, 212 in Karnali and 311 in Sudurpaschim.
According to the data released by the ministry, 49 districts are home to more than 500 active cases each and other 14 districts host more than 200 active cases each.
On Thursday, 1,645 individuals infected with the virus were being treated in intensive care units across the country. Another 457—53 in Province 1, 42 in Province 2, 287 in Bagmati, 34 in Gandaki, 20 in Lumbini, seven in Karnali and 14 in Sudurpaschim—were on ventilator support.
Nepal on Wednesday reported 6,677 new cases and 145 Covid-19 related fatalities. Similarly, 8,387 new cases and 169 Covid-19 related fatalities were reported on Tuesday and 7,220 new cases and 185 Covid-19-related fatalities were reported on Monday.
