Nepal’s Covid-19 toll reaches 1,893 with eight more deaths; national tally reaches 262,784 with 522 new infections

Nepal on Tuesday reported eight more Covid-19-related fatalities, pushing the death toll to 1,893. The country also recorded 522 new cases.
The overall infection tally has reached 262,784 with 5,225 active cases.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 255,666 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; of them 578 in the past 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 232 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of them, 171 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 53 in Lalitpur and eight in Bhaktapur.
As of Tuesday, the number of confirmed cases in the Valley has reached 122,273. While Kathmandu has reported 476 Covid-19-related fatalities so far, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur have recorded 147 and 109 deaths respectively.
According to the ministry, 946 individuals from Bagmati Province, 239 from Lumbini Province, 217 from Province 1, 216 from Province 2, 188 from Gandaki Province, 62 from Sudurpaschim Province, and 25 from Karnali Province have died of Covid-19 so far.
As of Tuesday, 1,957,454 PCR tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 4,551 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the data released by the ministry.
In the past 24 hours, 30 new infections were reported in Province 1, five in Province 2, and 281 in Bagmati Province.
Similarly, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces reported 89, 72, one and 44 cases respectively.
While Kathmandu has more than 500 active cases, Solukhumbu and Mugu districts do not have any active cases, according to the ministry.
While 203 individuals infected with the virus are being treated in intensive care units across the country, 44 others—25 in Bagmati Province, 10 in Lumbini, six in Gandaki, and one each in Province 1, Karnali and Sudurpaschim—are on ventilator support.
Nepal on Monday reported seven Covid-19-related deaths and 403 new cases. On Sunday eight Covid-19-related fatalities and 421 new cases were recorded. The country had recorded six Covid-19 related deaths and 419 new cases on Saturday. Similarly, eight deaths and 426 new cases were recorded on Friday and nine deaths and 534 new infections on Thursday.
