Nepal’s Covid-19 toll reaches 1,864 with eight more deaths; national tally reaches 261,019 with 426 new infections

Nepal on Friday reported eight more Covid-19-related fatalities, pushing the death toll to 1,864. The country also recorded 426 new cases.
The overall infection tally has reached 261,019 with 6,048 active cases.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 253,107 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; of them 748 in the past 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 167 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of them, 134 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 18 in Lalitpur and 15 in Bhaktapur.
As of Friday, the number of confirmed cases in the Valley has reached 121,505. While Kathmandu has reported 473 Covid-19-related fatalities so far, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur have recorded 146 and 105 deaths respectively.
According to the ministry, 930 individuals from Bagmati Province, 234 from Lumbini Province, 215 from Province 1, 214 from Province 2, 186 from Gandaki Province, 60 from Sudurpaschim Province, and 25 from Karnali Province have died of Covid-19 so far.
As of Friday, 1,937,702 PCR tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 5,225 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the data released by the ministry.
In the past 24 hours, 35 new infections were reported in Province 1, eight in Province 2, and 205 in Bagmati Province.
Similarly, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces reported 39, 80, three and 56 cases respectively.
While Kathmandu has more than 500 active cases, Mahottari and Mugu districts do not have any active cases, according to the ministry.
While 234 individuals infected with the virus are being treated in intensive care units across the country, 35 others—18 in Bagmati Province, six in Lumbini, five in Gandaki, three in Province 1, and one each in Province 2, Karnali and Sudurpaschim—are on ventilator support.
Nepal on Thursday reported nine Covid-19-related deaths and 534 new cases. Similarly, seven deaths and 511 new infections were recorded in the country on Wednesday and eight deaths and 708 new cases on Tuesday.
