Nepal’s Covid-19 toll reaches 1,840 with eight more deaths; national tally reaches 259,548 with 708 new infections

Nepal on Tuesday reported eight more Covid-19-related fatalities, pushing the death toll to 1,840. The country also recorded 708 new cases.
The overall infection tally has reached 259,548 with 6,396 active cases.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 251,312 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; of them 731 in the past 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 398 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of them, 324 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 52 in Lalitpur and 22 in Bhaktapur.
As of Tuesday, the number of confirmed cases in the Valley has reached 120,779. While Kathmandu has reported 469 Covid-19-related fatalities so far, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur have recorded 146 and 100 deaths respectively.
According to the ministry, 917 individuals from Bagmati Province, 230 from Lumbini Province, 215 from Province 1, 211 from Province 2, 184 from Gandaki Province, 58 from Sudurpaschim Province, and 25 from Karnali Province have died of Covid-19 so far.
As of Tuesday, 1,921,367 PCR tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 6,135 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the data released by the ministry.
In the past 24 hours, 41 new infections were reported in Province 1, three in Province 2, and 442 in Bagmati Province.
Similarly, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces reported 27, 132, eight and 55 cases respectively.
While Kathmandu has more than 500 active cases, Mahottari, Sarlahi, Siraha, Mugu and Rukum (West) do not have any active cases, according to the ministry.
While 228 individuals infected with the virus are being treated in intensive care units across the country, 40 others—18 in Bagmati Province, eight in Lumbini, four in Gandaki, three each in Province 1 and Province 2; and two each in Karnali and Sudurpaschim—are on ventilator support.
Nepal on Monday reported seven more Covid-19-related fatalities and 659 new cases. On Sunday, the country had reported six more Covid-19-related deaths and 481 new cases. Similarly, three Covid-19 related deaths and 500 new infections Saturday and eight deaths and 608 new infections were recorded on Friday.
