Nepal’s Covid-19 toll reaches 1,856 with nine more deaths; national tally reaches 260,593 with 534 new infections

Nepal on Thursday reported nine more Covid-19-related fatalities, pushing the death toll to 1,856. The country also recorded 534 new cases.
The overall infection tally has reached 260,593 with 6,378 active cases.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 252,359 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; of them 447 in the past 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 247 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of them, 180 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 43 in Lalitpur and 24 in Bhaktapur.
As of Thursday, the number of confirmed cases in the Valley has reached 121,338. While Kathmandu has reported 470 Covid-19-related fatalities so far, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur have recorded 146 and 104 deaths respectively.
According to the ministry, 924 individuals from Bagmati Province, 234 from Lumbini Province, 215 from Province 1, 213 from Province 2, 185 from Gandaki Province, 60 from Sudurpaschim Province, and 25 from Karnali Province have died of Covid-19 so far.
As of Thursday, 1,932,477 PCR tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 6,000 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the data released by the ministry.
In the past 24 hours, 24 new infections were reported in Province 1, three in Province 2, and 297 in Bagmati Province.
Similarly, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces reported 67, 69, one and 73 cases respectively.
While Kathmandu has more than 500 active cases, Mahottari, Mugu and Rukum (West) do not have any active cases, according to the ministry.
While 236 individuals infected with the virus are being treated in intensive care units across the country, 36 others—19 in Bagmati Province, five each in Lumbini and Gandaki, three in Province 1, two in Province 2, and one each in Karnali and Sudurpaschim—are on ventilator support.
Nepal on Wednesday reported seven Covid-19-related deaths and 511 new infections. Similarly, eight deaths and 708 new cases were recorded in the country on Tuesday and seven deaths and 659 new cases on Monday.
