Nepal’s Covid-19 toll reaches 1,878 with eight more deaths; national tally reaches 261,859 with 421 new infections

Nepal on Sunday reported eight more Covid-19-related fatalities, pushing the death toll to 1,878. The country also recorded 421 new cases.
The overall infection tally has reached 261,859 with 5,487 active cases.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 254,494 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; of them 637 in the past 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 197 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of them, 160 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 26 in Lalitpur and 11 in Bhaktapur.
As of Sunday, the number of confirmed cases in the Valley has reached 121,856. While Kathmandu has reported 475 Covid-19-related fatalities so far, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur have recorded 146 and 107 deaths respectively.
According to the ministry, 937 individuals from Bagmati Province, 236 from Lumbini Province, 215 from Province 1, 215 from Province 2, 186 from Gandaki Province, 62 from Sudurpaschim Province, and 25 from Karnali Province have died of Covid-19 so far.
As of Sunday, 1,948,502 PCR tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 5,800 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the data released by the ministry.
In the past 24 hours, 24 new infections were reported in Province 1, one in Province 2, and 342 in Bagmati Province.
Similarly, Gandaki, Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces reported 14, 27 and 13 cases respectively.
While Kathmandu has more than 500 active cases, Panchthar, Solukhumbu and Mugu districts do not have any active cases, according to the ministry.
While 199 individuals infected with the virus are being treated in intensive care units across the country, 35 others—18 in Bagmati Province, eight in Lumbini, four in Gandaki, two in Province 1, and one each in Province 2, Karnali and Sudurpaschim—are on ventilator support.
Nepal on Saturday reported six Covid-19 related deaths and 419 new cases. Similarly, eight deaths and 426 new cases were recorded in the country on Friday and nine deaths and 534 new infections on Thursday.
