Nepal’s Covid-19 toll reaches 1,777 with 12 more deaths; national tally reaches 253,184 with 710 new infections

Nepal on Saturday reported 12 more Covid-19-related fatalities, pushing the death toll to 1,777. The country also recorded 710 new cases.
The overall infection tally has reached 253,184 with 8,840 active cases.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 242,567 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; of them 1,175 in the past 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 281 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of them, 224 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 38 in Lalitpur and 19 in Bhaktapur.
As of Saturday, the number of confirmed cases in the Valley has reached 117,873. While Kathmandu has reported 453 Covid-19-related fatalities so far, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur have recorded 142 and 97 deaths respectively.
According to the ministry, 890 individuals from Bagmati Province, 223 from Lumbini Province, 211 from Province 1, 209 from Province 2, 169 from Gandaki Province, 51 from Sudurpaschim Province, and 24 from Karnali Province have died of Covid-19 so far.
As of Saturday, 1,866,210 PCR tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 4,780 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the data released by the ministry.
In the past 24 hours, 69 new infections were reported in Province 1, 25 in Province 2, and 383 in Bagmati Province.
Similarly, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces reported 146, 62, 10 and 15 cases respectively.
Three districts—Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Kaski—have more than 500 active cases. Manang does not have any active case, according to the ministry.
While 279 individuals infected with the virus are being treated in intensive care units across the country, 51 others—25 in Bagmati Province, 11 in Gandaki, four in Province 2, three each in Province 1, Lumbini and Karnali, and two in Sudurpaschim—are on ventilator support.
Nepal on Friday reported 16 Covid-19-related fatalities and 782 new infections. Similarly, six deaths and 776 new infections were recorded in the country on Thursday and 13 deaths and 736 new infections on Wednesday.
