Nepal’s Covid-19 toll reaches 1,765 with 16 more deaths; national tally reaches 252,474 with 782 new infections

Nepal on Friday reported 16 more Covid-19-related fatalities, pushing the death toll to 1,765. The country also recorded 782 new cases.
The overall infection tally has reached 252,474 with 9,317 active cases.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 241,392 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; of them 1,029 in the past 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 287 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of them, 202 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 76 in Lalitpur and nine in Bhaktapur.
As of Friday, the number of confirmed cases in the Valley has reached 117, 592. While Kathmandu has reported 453 Covid-19-related fatalities so far, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur have recorded 140 and 97 deaths respectively.
According to the ministry, 888 individuals from Bagmati Province, 222 from Lumbini Province, 211 from Province 1, 209 from Province 2, 160 from Gandaki Province, 51 from Sudurpaschim Province, and 24 from Karnali Province have died of Covid-19 so far.
As of Friday, 1,861,430 PCR tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 5,706 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the data released by the ministry.
In the past 24 hours, 44 new infections were reported in Province 1, 26 in Province 2, and 339 in Bagmati Province.
Similarly, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces reported 82, 125, 25 and 141 cases respectively.
Three districts—Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Kaski—have more than 500 active cases. Manang does not have any active case, according to the ministry.
While 283 individuals infected with the virus are being treated in intensive care units across the country, 49 others—26 in Bagmati Province, 10 in Gandaki, four in Province 1, three each in Lumbini and Karnali, two in Sudurpaschim, and one in Province 2—are on ventilator support.
Nepal on Thursday reported six Covid-19-related deaths and 776 new infections. Similarly, 13 deaths and 736 new infections were recorded in the country on Wednesday and 14 deaths and 936 new cases on Tuesday.
