Nepal’s Covid-19 toll reaches 1,698 with nine more deaths; national tally reaches 248,423 with 830 new infections

Nepal on Sunday reported nine more Covid-19-related fatalities, pushing the death toll to 1,698 . The country also recorded 830 new cases.
The overall infection tally has reached 248,423 with 10,994 active cases.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 235,731 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; 1,500 of them in the past 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 348 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of them, 258 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 65 in Lalitpur and 25 in Bhaktapur.
As of Sunday, the number of confirmed cases in the Valley has reached 115,780. While Kathmandu has reported 443 Covid-19-related fatalities so far, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur have recorded 133 and 97 deaths respectively.
According to the ministry, 866 individuals from Bagmati Province, 220 from Lumbini Province, 210 from Province 1, 205 from Province 2, 125 from Gandaki Province, 48 from Sudurpaschim Province, and 24 from Karnali Province have died of Covid-19 so far.
As of Sunday, 1,831,041 PCR tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 5,181 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the data released by the ministry.
In the past 24 hours, 82 new infections were reported in Province 1, 4 in Province 2, and 393 in Bagmati Province.
Similarly, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces reported 100, 67, 40 and 144 cases respectively.
Three districts—Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Kaski—have more than 500 active cases. Manang does not have any active case, according to the ministry.
While 294 individuals infected with the virus are being treated in intensive care units across the country, 52 others—24 in Bagmati Province, 10 in Province 1, nine in Gandaki, four in Lumbini, three in Karnali and two in Sudurpaschim—are on ventilator support.
Nepal on Saturday had reported 15 more Covid-19-related fatalities and 899 new cases. On Friday, the country had reported 11 Covid-19-related deaths and 1,044 new infections. Similarly, 12 deaths and 1,217 new infections were recorded in the country on Thursday and 14 deaths and 1,056 new cases on Wednesday.
