Machhindra FC are now at the top of the National League points table after their fourth consecutive win on Wednesday. The two-time Martyr’s Memorial ‘A’ Division League champions defeated Chitlang 3-1 in the second match of the day at ANFA Complex in Satdobato, Lalitpur.
Meanwhile, Armed Police Force FC also registered their fourth straight win in the tournament in the first match on Wednesday.
APF defeated Jawalakhel Youth Club 2-1. With the respective wins, Machhindra and APF climbed over Laligurans Association Club, who missed out on their fourth win on Tuesday after a goalless draw with Tribhuvan Army FC.
Machhindra and APF now have 12 points each. Interestingly, both also have the same goal difference: 6.
Leading 1-0 with the goal by Pradeep Budathoki, Machhindra scored the remaining two goals in a span of four minutes in the second half. Jonathan Eduardo Cantillana Zorrilla scored in the 65th minute, while Alijon Alijonov scored in the 69th.
It was Zorrilla’s third straight goal of the league as he scored a goal each in the previous two matches of Machhindra against Manang Marsyangdi FC and Planning Boyz United.
The only consolation goal for Chitlang came in the 70th minute with Bigyan Khadka on the scoresheet.
On the other hand, APF conceded first against Jawalakhel as Dharbendra Kunwar found the back of the net in the 20th minute.
However, APF bounced back in the second half with a brace by Samiraj Thokar in the 58th and 84th minutes.
Each team would have played at least four matches each after the fixture between Church Boys United and Nawa Jana Jagriti Yuwa Club at 3pm on Thursday. However, before that, Sankata FC and New Road Team will play their respective fifth match of the league at 11am. Both matches will be played at ANFA Complex.
