The All Nepal Football Association on Tuesday postponed the process for its early election.
According to a notice signed by ANFA Election Committee’s Member-Secretary Lokendra Oli, the postponement was a result of the interim order by the Patan High Court.
“The election committee received the interim order of January 18 by the Patan High Court on January 20,” the notice reads. “As a result, election-related activities have been postponed until further notice.”
The ANFA had already completed the process related to nominations. As per the schedule of the early election slated for February 11, Wednesday was the date for making the names of the candidates public.
It was anticipated that the ANFA would not adhere to the court’s order as it moved forward despite a temporary interim order on January 12. Further, the ANFA had been given a green light for the early election from FIFA and the AFC on January 16.
