Sankata, APF, Jawalakhel win

Sankata FC, Armed Police Force and Jawalakhel Youth Club emerged victorious in their respective National League matches on Sunday.
Sankata defeated Kankrebihar Club 4-0, while APF won 1-0 against Friends’ Club Kopundole in the two matches played at Chyasal Stadium. In the match played at ANFA Complex, Jawalakhel cruised past Shree Bhagawati Club 4-0.
Ashish Maharjan opened the goal tally for Sankata in the 14th minute. Before the first half concluded, Krishna Bahadur Ale made it 2-0. The other two goals were scored by Bishal Tamang and Wendpanga Gilbert Bilgo in the 55th and 74th minutes, respectively.
After Sankata had a cushion of three goals, they subbed off their captain and goalkeeper Tikendra Singh Thapa in the 71st minute and gave an opportunity to Rubin Bogati.
For APF, the only deciding goal came in the 25th minute—an own goal scored by Friends’ Club’s Khemraj Shrestha.
Regarding the match between Jawalakhel and Shree Bhagawati, it did not even take a minute for the first goal. Nicholas Odale Hamilton scored the first for Jawalakhel in less than a minute, while Dharbendra Kunwar made it 2-0 in the fourth.
Shree Bhagawati kept their cool and prevented further goals in the first half. But Kunwar scored his second in the 57th minute and made it 3-0. As the match was about to end with seven minutes of injury time added, Hamilton, in 90+5, scored his second.
It was the second match of the league for Sankata, Kankrebihar, Friends’ Club, Jawalakhel and Shree Bhagawati, while it was the first for APF.
Sankata and Shree Bhagawati had played a draw in their respective first match of the league, while Kankrebihar and Jawalakhel had suffered a defeat. Friends’ had opened the tournament with a win before a loss on Sunday.
There are three matches scheduled for Monday. Two of them—New Road Team vs Satdobato Youth Club (2pm) and Manang Marsyangdi Club vs Machhindra FC (6:30pm)—will be played at Dasharath Stadium. Two of the clubs that progressed from the President League—Nawa Jana Jagriti Yuwa Club and Laligurans Association Club—will face each other at 11am at ANFA Complex.
