‘Sankata Ko Dhun’, a documentary on ‘A’ Division outfit Sankata Club was released on Friday, highlighting the fan culture of the club.
The 20-minute documentary was released at the club premises in Te Bahal, Kathmandu, amid the presence of the club’s players, officials and fans.
The documentary highlights the way Sankata’s fans support their team by playing traditional musical instruments throughout the game. According to Sankata president Indraman Tuladhar, most of the musical instruments played during the games are traditional musical tools that are played on special occasions and festivals honouring goddess Sankata.
Sankata, one of the oldest teams in Nepal’s football history, formed in 1950 has won the top-tier football tournament thrice with the last one being in 1985. They are currently eighth in the ongoing Martyrs Memorial ‘A’ Division League, the premier division football league of the country.
