Jhapa XI into semi-finals

Hosts Jhapa XI advanced into the semi-finals of the Jhapa Gold Cup after a 5-1 demolition of 10-man Red Panda of Sikkim on Thursday.
Bimal Gharti Magar converted two penalties in a one-sided affair at the Domalal Stadium that also saw Bishal Rai and Bishwas Shrestha on the scoresheet for the hosts.
Gharti Magar opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 31st minute after Red Panda’s Sagar Gurung fouled Rupesh Bartaula.

Rai furthered the advantage in the 58th sending in a rebound from goalie Nindup Lepcha.
Gharti Magar stretched the lead even further in the 77th from another spot kick after Pintso Lepcha handled the ball inside the box and Shrestha rounded off the victory in the 89th with a solo effort.
Red Panda’s Yogesh Magar grabbed a consolation goal in the 66th, also from the penalty kick awarded for Jhapa’s Bishal Basnet’s tackling of Aman Rasaily.
Jhapa will take on Sankata Club on Saturday for a place in the final. Tribhuvan Army FC will vie against Satdobato Youth Club in the first semi-final match on Friday.
