The second edition of the franchise-based Nepal Super League (NSL) football tournament will be held from April 9 to May 21, Nepal Sports and Event Management (NSEM) Pvt Ltd has announced.
There will be an addition of three new teams, the company said.
According to a statement issued by the NSL on Wednesday, the organisers are planning to hold a 10-team event, unlike seven in the opening season played in April and May last year. The first edition was played within the closed doors of Dasharath Stadium in Tripureshwar due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The NSEM said that it is planning to host the second edition of the game in two cities—Pokhara and Kathmandu. The tournament will kick off in Pokhara and the latter half of the games will be held in Kathmandu, “if everything goes as per plans,” according to the organisers.
"…. football is all about fans and we really look forward to being able to welcome them to the stadium this time around. We intend to make NSL a multi-city event moving to different cities every season," reads the statement.
"Nevertheless, we will continue to take stock of the Covid situation in Nepal, and should there be an absolute need, we may have to hold the event in a single city following all Covid-related protocols."
