Madhyapur fight back to beat Shree Kumari, Bansbari win

Madhyapur Youth Association came from behind to edge Shree Kumari Club 2-1 and register their second victory of the Martyrs Memorial 'B' Division League campaign at the ANFA Complex, Satdobato, on Tuesday.
Kailash Lamichhane Khatri cancelled Shree Kumari's lead at the stroke of half time before Dhiraj Shrestha scored the winning goal for Madhyapur few minutes into the second half.
With the second win after the eighth match, Madhyapur leapfrogged three places to level on points with eighth placed Shree Kumari Club. With two wins and a draw, Madhyapur and Shree Kumari both have seven points each after the completion of the eighth round.
Shree Kumari went ahead in the 40th minute through Ashis Rai who arrowed a low ball from the area sending it behind three defenders and goalie Akash Ranabhat. But the goal celebration could not last long as Madhyapur restored parity five minutes later. Kailash Lamichhane Khatri, who was left free in the area, headed into the break with the score tied at 1-1.
Shrestha netted a second goal for Mahdyapur three minutes into the second half with a near post strike from the area after a one-touch pass from Sanjib Thapa Magar.
In the late fixture, Nishan Sunar scored twice in the second half in Bansbari Club's 2-0 victory over Pulchowk Sports Club to strengthen their grip in the third place.
Following a goalless first half, Sunar opened the scoring three minutes after the restart. He beat an advancing Pulchowk custodian Chewang Jhankkri with a low shot from the edge of the area after collecting a defence-splitting pass from Tanka Prasad Gurung.
He doubled the advantage in the 69th minute when he chipped over goalie Jhankkri after being fed by Pratikar Raut.
With the sixth win, Basnbari have collected 18 points and opened a four-point lead over the fourth placed Boys Union Club. Bansbari, who also face a point deduction for finishing at last two positions in the last edition's league, are four points adrift of leader Satdobato Youth Club. Pulchowk, who are struggling to avoid relegation, are yet to test victory and are languishing at the bottom of standings with only two points in their kitty.
