Nepal U-23 held by Myanmar U-23
Nepal are the South Asian Games’ defending football champions having won the final against hosts India at the 12th South Asian Games.Prarambha Dahal
Ananta Tamang gave Nepal a lead as early as in the second minute with a header on a corner from captain Sujal Shrestha. However, Lwin Moe Aung brought Myanmar on level terms as he found the back of the net with five minutes before half time.
Substitute Rejin Subba, who had replaced Nawayug Shrestha, restored Nepal's lead in the 60th minute. But Nepal's lead this instance was short-lived as Aung completed his brace to equalise from a freekick four minutes later. Although both sides created several openings in the remaining period, neither could find the net to finish the game 2-2.
Nepal are the South Asian Games’ defending football champions having won the final against hosts India at the 12th South Asian Games. The age-group sides are allowed to field three senior players in the competition held along the format of football competition in the Olympic Games.
