Brigade Boys Club and Nepal Police Club set the title clash of Lalit Memorial U-18 Football Championship winning their semi-final matches at the ANFA Complex in Satdobato on Thursday.
Brigade registered a thumping 7-1 victory over Manang Marshyangdi Club, the most successful team at senior level, while Police edged Jawalakhel Youth Club 3-1. Brigade, the team studded with majority of ANFA Academy boys, scored five goals in the second half after going to break with a 2-1 lead. Rejin Subba completed a hat-trick for Brigade Boys while Sishir Lekhi scored a brace. Jaya Gurung and Birjesh Chaudhary were also on targets for Brigade Boys. Sachin Gurung pulled back one for Manang.
Lekhi put Brigade Boys ahead in the 15th minute before Sachin restored parity in the 25th. Subba restored Brigade Boys' lead five minutes later and before Lekhi made it 3-1 in the 54th minute with his second individual goal. Jaya was on target in the 66th minute and Subba netted his second individual goal to widen the margin to 5-1 in the 71st minute. Chaudhary added more wounds to the Manang wounds scoring in the 83rd before Subba rounded up the comprehensive victory scoring yet another goal two minutes from time.
The late fixture of the day saw Sanju Sen score twice for Police before Rabin Rai seal the victory with a late goal. Sen put Police ahead in the 28th minute only for Jawalakhel to level the scores in the 44th from the spot through skipper Sirshak Bhakta Shrestha. Police restored one-goal cushion as Sen struck in the second minute of three minutes of stoppage time. Rai netted in the 89th to seal the 3-1 victory for the departmental team. The title match will be played on Sunday.
