Nepal reached the second round of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Asia qualifier after Hong Kong’s match against Bahrain was abandoned without a ball bowled because of rain in Bangkok on Friday.
The result left Nepal on five points from four matches, winning two and losing two. Hong Kong also finished on five points but with a superior net run rate helped Nepal advance. However, tournament rules award progression to the side with more victories, giving Nepal the edge.
Nine teams were divided into three groups for the initial double round robin phase, with only the group winners advancing to the second round. The trio of qualifiers will contest another round robin, and the top two sides will earn places at the global qualifier for the Women’s T20 World Cup.Most Read from Cricket
