Leg spinner Yuvraj Khatri ran through the lower order with a five-wicket haul as Nepal Under-19 bowled out Oman Under-19 for just 117 runs in their second match of the ACC U-19 Asia Cup Qualifiers at the Mulpani Cricket Ground on Monday.
Opting to bowl first after winning the toss, the hosts kept Oman under pressure throughout the innings, dismissing them in 38.1 overs. Khatri finished with figures of 5-15 in 7 overs, triggering the collapse after removing Jeet Vrajesh Shah in the 30th over. He went on to dismantle the tail-order batters.
Santosh Yadav was equally effective with a disciplined 8-over spell, conceding only 14 runs and picking up two wickets, including a maiden. Ashok Dhami, Aparajit Paudel, and Dayanand Mandal chipped in with a wicket each. Dayanand replaced Darsh Sonar in today’s playing XI.
Oman’s top-scorer was Shah, who made a fighting 52 off 78 deliveries, striking six boundaries. Pratish Hema Ramesh added 10, while Siddharth Somya Shankar contributed 16. Kavish Rajesh Kumar Shah remained unbeaten on nine as Oman failed to build partnerships.
Nepal came into the game on the back of a thrilling five-run win over UAE on Sunday, while Oman had suffered an eight-wicket loss to Afghanistan. The round-robin tournament also features Hong Kong, with only the table-topper earning a place in the ICC U-19 World Cup.
