Nepal women’s U-19 team have posted a 95-run target against India in the ACC Women’s U-19 Asia Cup at Bayuemas Cricket Oval in Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday.
The Nepali innings got off to a disastrous start, with Sabitri Dhami (3) dismissed early, caught by Gongadi Trisha off Nandhana S’s bowling. Sana Praveen (9) followed soon after, caught off Parunika Sisodia, leaving Nepal at 43-2 in the 10th over.
Puja Mahato, the top scorer for Nepal with 25 runs off 40 balls, tried to stabilise the innings but was run out. At 60-3, Nepal’s batting troubles continued. Sony Pakhrin (8) was dismissed by Mithila Vinod, and Jyotsnika Marasini (6) fell to Parunika Sisodia, leaving Nepal at 68-6 by the 17th over.
Seemana Kc (0) was run out, and at 82-7, Nepal’s innings was in turmoil. A brief 14-run partnership between Alisha Kumari Yadav and Anu Kadayat (1) offered some hope before Kadayat was stumped. Kusum Godar (1) was caught off Sisodia, and the innings ended at 94-8 with Rachana Kumari Chaudhary (3) remaining unbeaten.
India’s bowlers were outstanding, with Parunika Sisodia leading the charge, claiming four wickets for 16 runs, and Mithila Vinod contributing with one for 10.
On Monday, Nepal secured a spot in the semifinals, defeating Pakistan by six wickets in a thrilling encounter at the Bayuemas Oval in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
