Sandeep Lamichhane grabbed five wickets as Nepal restricted Papua New Guinea to 95 runs in the final tri-series of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 held at TU cricket ground in Kirtipur on Monday.
Put to bat first after losing the toss, PNG’s batting crumbled with only four batsmen managing to reach double-digit figures. Openers Kiplin Doriga and Hiri Hiri were out for just two and 14 runs respectively. Sese Bau, who came into the crease after the wicket of Doriga, was bowled by Lamichhane at 18 runs.
Assad Vala was the top-scorer for PNG at 20 runs as Charles Amini made 16 runs.
Lamichhane completed a five-wicket haul in his 10-over spell giving away 25 runs to limit the visitors to a low total. Lalit Rajbanshi and Kushal Malla grabbed two wickets each.
