Nepal thump Malaysia by 10 wickets

Nepal registered a magnificent 10-wickets win over Malaysia to continue their undefeated run at the Asian Regional Qualifier for the ICC U-19 Men's Cricket World Cup being held at the United Arab Emirates on Tuesday.
Opting to bat first, Malaysia set a target of a meagre 73 runs, losing all wickets in 35.3 overs.
Muhammad Akram Abd Malek scored 26 runs off 51 balls, before being caught by Bishal Bikram KC.
Mohammad Hairil Harisan and Muhammad Syahir Syamael managed to put 12 runs each on the scoreboard off of 24 and 40 balls respectively.
Nepal’s Dipesh Kandel finished his 10-over spell with 4 wickets, giving away only 11 runs. Bowling four maiden overs, Kandel took the wickets of Muhammad Akram Abd Malek, Muhammad Aalif Shamsul Bahrin, Siddharth Neelakantan, and Muhammad Azri Azhar Amaluz Zaman.
Similarly, Akash Chand grabbed 3 wickets, while Milan Bohara sent two batters back to the pavilion.
Subash Bhandari also managed to take a wicket, retiring Muhammad Aiman Zaquan Ridzuanthe on a duck.
For Nepal, the unbeaten partnership of openers Deepak Bohara and Arjun Kumal helped the rhino U19’s race up to the target in just 9 overs.
Bohara smashed 8 boundaries, putting up 38 runs off 29 balls, while Kumal managed to score 21 runs off 25 balls.
Nepal has to win against hosts UAE on Thursday to return to the U-19 World Cup for the first time since 2016.
Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, Ireland, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, West Indies, and Zimbabwe have already qualified for the 2024 World Cup as the best-placed full-member nations from the previous edition of the World Cup in 2022.
The remaining five spots will be fulfilled through the regional qualifier—Asia, East-Asia Pacific, Africa, Europe, and Americas—with one team from each region securing a place at the Sri Lanka finals.
Nepal had registered a convincing 9-wickets win over Hong Kong on Monday, securing their third win in a row at the Asian Regional Qualifier for the ICC U-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup.
Last week, Nepal had romped ahead, registering a 96-runs victory over Singapore and a 243-run victory over Kuwait.
