APF thump Sudurpaschim, Subedi shines for Province 1
The departmental side pull off a 10-wicket win chasing 68-run target in 11.2 overs while Subedi scores a century in Province 1 victory.

Nepal Armed Police Force (APF) Club pulled off a convincing 10-wicket victory over Sudurpaschim Province to secure second win in a row while Province 1 saw off Bagmati Province by 69 runs to open their accounts at the Prime Minister Cup One-Day National Cricket Tournament in Kathmandu on Tuesday.
Sent to bat first at the Mulpani ground, Sudurpaschim were bowled out for a paltry total of 67 runs in 27 overs after Bhuvan Karki grabbed four wickets. APF openers Pradeep Airee and Aasif Sheikh chased the target in 11.2 overs remaining unbeaten with scores of 70 runs.
At the TU ground, teenage opener Ankit Subedi cracked a century for Province 1, who elected to bat first, as they amassed 304 runs in 49.5 overs before they bowled out Bagmati for 235 runs in 45.5 overs.
With their second win in a row, APF strengthened their grip on top of the table with four points from two matches in Group A while Sudurpaschim are languishing at the bottom of the table remaining pointless. Province 1 climbed to second position in Group B after their first win from two matches. Former national team captain Gyanendra Malla-led Bagmati are winless after two matches.
Subedi, the 18-year-old opener of Province 1, smashed 110 runs off 134 balls and also shared a 102-run partnership for the sixth wicket with captain Siddhant Lohani, who played a quickfire blitz of 40-ball 72.
Player-of-the-match Subedi hit 12 boundaries and a six before he was caught by Ishan Pandey off Ramnaresh Giri as eighth wicket. Lohani, caught and bowled by Nandan Yadav, cracked three fences and eight sixes. Bivek Anand Mehta (30), Sonu Ansari (19) and Sarwan Yadav (11) also contributed for Province 1 with the bat.
Bagmati bowler Ramnaresh Giri returned with an economical figure of 9.5-1-42-5 while Nandan Yadav, Surya Tamang, Pratis GC and Ishan Pandey shared a wicket each.
In the run chase, Bagmati lost wickets in regular intervals despite some of the batters making remarkable contributions. Lower middle order batter Nandan Yadav contributed 48-ball 43, opener Ishan Pandey 61-ball 35 and Ramanaresh Giri not out 27-ball 28. Captain Malla scored 43-ball 27, Durgesh Thapa 43-ball 26 and Ashutosh Ghiraiya 10-ball 14, among others.
Province 1 bowler Sarwan Yadav clinched three wickets in his 9.5 overs spell conceding 44 runs with three maiden overs. Firdosh Ansari, Dipak Joshi and captain Lohan had two scalps each.
At the Mulpani ground, Sudurpaschim captain Raju Rijal was the only player to add double digits figures scoring 24 off 68 before he was bowled out by Mousom Dhakal as they lost all other batters cheaply.
Left arm spinner Karki of APF was the pick of bowling claiming four wickets. The player-of-the-match conceded 22 runs in his nine-over spell with a maiden. Kamal Airee and Mousom Dhakal shared two wickets each.
Chasing the target, APF openers Airee and Sheikh played unbeaten knocks. Airee scored 36-ball 25 that included a boundary and two sixes while Sheik cracked 32-ball 47. He smashed seven fences and a maximum.
Karnali will vie against Gandaki at TU ground and Bagmati will take on Lumbini at Mulpani ground on Wednesday.
