APF, Sudurpaschim off to winning starts

Nepal Armed Police Force (APF) Club and Sudurpaschim Province made winning starts in the Lalitpur Mayor Women's Champions twenty20 cricket that kicked off at the TU cricket grounds in Kirtipur on Saturday.
In the opening match, APF registered a convincing eight-wicket victory over Province 1 while Sudurpaschim defeated Lalitpur Mayor's XI by seven wickets.

Province 1 skipper Rubina Chhetri contributed 45 runs off 48 deliveries that included six boundaries. She was stumped by wicketkeeper Jyoti Pandey off Rana Magar.
Roma Thapa was the other major batter for Province 1 scoring 33 runs off 42 deliveries. She smashed five fours before being caught by Sushma Shrestha off Binu Budhamagar.
APF bowlers Rekha Rawal, Karuna Bhandari and Rana Magar pocketed a wicket each.
In the run chase, the opening pair of Pandey and skipper Rana Magar created the base for victory sharing a 70-run stand for the first wicket. The player-of-the-match Rana Magar scored an unbeaten 52 runs off 50 that included seven fences. Pandey contributed 32 runs off 40 before she was caught by Apsari Begam off Sangita Rai. She hit five boundaries.
Province 1 skipper Chhetri and Rai claimed a wicket each.
In the late fixture, Kanchan Shrestha's unbeaten 63 runs went in vain for Mayor's XI as they failed to defend the 107-run total scored at the expense of five wickets. She cracked eight boundaries in his 56-ball knock. Suman Khatiwada and Asmina Karmacharya, who contributed 16 and 13 runs respectively, were the other batters to score in double figures for Mayor's XI, the assembled team comprising best players of the Prime Minister Cup from the teams that made an exit from the group stage.
Kabita Kunwar, Ritu Kanoujiya and Samjhana Khadka took one wicket each for Sudurpaschim.
In the run chase, opener Manju Bokati scored 41 runs as they made 113-3. Openers Bokati and Rewati Dhami stitched a 51-run partnership for the first wicket before the latter was dismissed. Bokati hit six fences in her 42-ball knock before she was run out. Dhami contributed 18 runs. Dolly Bhatta and Kabita Joshi remained unbeaten for 22 runs and 10 runs.
Mayor's XI bowlers Suman Khatiwada and Aarati Bidari pocketed one wicket each.
