Nepal to play T20 tri-series against Singapore and Zimbabwe in Singapore

Nepali cricket team is all set to play Twenty20 tri-series also involving Singapore and Zimbabwe in Singapore.
The date of the tournament has been confirmed from September 25-October 4. Singapore Cricket Association is organising the tournament as part of their preparations for the Global Qualifiers slated for October-November in the United Arab Emirates. Nepal missed their chance to play in the Global Qualifiers after finishing third in the ICC Twenty20 World Cup Asia Regional Qualifying. Only the winner of the tournament was guaranteed a place in the Global Qualifiers. Nepal, who went in the tournament as favourites, lost to Qatar in their first match and hosts Singapore in their last fixture.
It will be the first time Nepal will be playing the shortest version of the game against Zimbabwe. Nepal have played against them in the 50-over format in the ICC World Cup Qualifiers in April last year, which Zimbabwe won by 116 runs. The event will be played in the double round robin format and the team finishing on top of the standings will be announced the winners. Nepal will play against Zimbabwe on September 27 and Singapore on the following day. Nepal’s remaining matches will be played on October 1 against Zimbabwe and the hosts Singapore on next day.
All the matches are scheduled to be played at the Singapore Indian Association cricket ground. The series has been approved by the ICC. After the completion of the series, Nepali are set to fly Oman to take part in the five-nation Twenty20 series scheduled for October 5-10 in Oman. Along with Nepal and Oman, the five-nation series includes the Netherlands, Ireland and Hong Kong.
Nepal will play their first match against Hong Kong on October 6 followed by the Netherlands on October 7. Nepal’s third match will be against Ireland on October 9 before taking on the hosts Oman the following day. The team that accumulates maximum points after the round-robin league will be the champions. In case of a tie, win with better head-to-head and run-rate will come into play to decide the winners be declared winners. All the matches will be played at Al Amerat cricket ground in Oman.
